The International Confederation of Paso Horses, CONFEPASO, was founded in 1991 with the sole purpose of unifying regulations and judging criteria at the international level. Today, there are 11 countries represented by the CONFEDERATION; Aruba, Colombia, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Germany, Panama, Puerto Rico, United States of America, Switzerland and Venezuela.
The first World Cup took place in November 1993 in the Dominican Republic in commemoration of the 500 year anniversary of the discovery of Las Americas. It was in 1995 during the second World Cup in Puerto Rico, that a young boy, Felix Santiago Oliver, asked the president of the CONFEDERATION for an Equitation World Cup for the Youth. Felix was an admirable, articulate, smart and humble kid that was not able to beat cancer, but left us a legacy. During the summer of 1996 in the country of Venezuela the first Youth Equitation World Cup was held. Held only every two years in different countries, the Youth Mundial attracts international competitors ages 4 through 24. The last Youth Equitation World Cup was in July of 2012 in Miami, FL and set a new bench mark with 10 countries participating and 298 young athletes.
In the summer of 2014, our extraordinary team of young athletes will travel to Colombia, SA to represent the USA as they compete for individual and team titles in an elite equestrian youth event. This is a group of young people who not only hope to compete – they intend to WIN!
